Lumix Therapy

What is Lumix therapy?

Lumix therapy is a therapeutic laser treatment that uses low-level laser technology to help accelerate the natural healing process and to reduce pain.* Specifically, Dr. Hurst uses an in-office laser device to apply varying light and pulse frequency to help you get back on your feet.

Lumix therapy has numerous healing properties. Among its benefits is that Lumix therapy:

  • Increases blood flow and circulation to injured areas, naturally accelerating the healing process
  • Quickens new cell generation for muscles, ligaments, blood vessels, bones, and nerves
  • Reduces swelling from injuries or joint inflammation
  • Enhances mobility and reduces pain

What foot and ankle issues can Lumix therapy fix?

Lumix therapy can be integrated into the treatment plan for a variety of podiatric issues, including:

  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Neuropathies
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Plantar fasciitis/fasciosis
  • Postsurgical and chronic pain
  • Sports injuries
  • Sprains and strains
  • Toenail fungus
  • Wound healing

How long does a Lumix therapy treatment take?

Dr. Hurst creates a treatment plan based on your condition; however, typically a Lumix therapy treatment takes approximately several minutes. Each patient responds to treatment and heals at their own rate. Although some patients may feel a noticeable difference after a single treatment, Dr. Hurst may recommend multiple treatments for full impact.

Is Lumix therapy safe?

Doctors throughout Europe and Asia have used low-level laser therapy since the 1970s, and Lumix has been cleared for use in the United States since 2002. According to clinical studies, when used properly it’s not only safe but has proven to be an effective noninvasive and non-addictive technique to relieve pain and inflammation, as well as to speed up healing — all without side effects.

Most people report little, if any discomfort during treatment except for a soothing feeling of warmth. Although, some patients report immediate pain relief while others experience lessened pain.
